PresentationAimed at strengthening scientific cooperation in the field of Chinese studies between the Martino Martini Center, the University of Trento and the University of Shanghai, the joint workshop will bring in Trento prominent scholars of Chinese history and culture from China, Italy, Europe and the US to explore youth experiences, images and literary representations in the PRC in a broad timeframe (1949-2019) and from a range of disciplines including cultural studies, literature and history.
...Taken as a whole they reveal the complexities involved to try to understand a younger generation that exibits seemingly contraddictory behaviour, marked by conspicuous consumption (materialism), nationalistic impulses (patriotism) and a growing interaction with events outside China that have an increasing impact within the country (internationalism)...
