SULLA VIA DEL CATAI
Presentazione della Rivista Fondata nel 2007, la rivista semestrale “Sulla via del Catai”, è una pubblicazione scientifica del Centro Studi Martino Martini, dedicata alle relazioni storiche, economiche e culturali tra Europa e Cina. La rivista ospita interventi di autorevoli studiosi ed esperti su varie tematiche, tra cui principalmente le relazioni economiche, le vie del commercio terrestri e marittime, gli scambi culturali fra Oriente e Occidente, la presenza occidentale in Cina, la presenza cinese in Occidente, lo sviluppo della scienza e della tecnologia nelle due aree, l’arte, i saperi e le tradizioni delle due civiltà a confronto. Ogni numero della Rivista è dedicato a un tema monografico. La scelta dei titoli da pubblicare e l’indivi-duazione del curatore vengono effettuate collegialmente dal direttore, dal Comitato Scientifico e dalla redazione. La rivista adotta un sistema di valutazione dei testi basata sulla revisione paritaria e anonima (peer review di tipo double-blind) e segue il codice etico delle pubblicazioni elaborato da COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics): Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors (http://publicationethics.org/resources/guidelines) Il CMM aderisce ai principi di trasparenza con il suo codice etico CMM Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement Il curatore di ciascun numero della Rivista individuerà i collaboratori tra riconosciuti esperti di un determinato settore di studi. Fin dalla sua fondazione, la rivista “Sulla via del Catai” è stata ideata per rivolgersi a un pubblico ampio, che vada oltre i sinologi di professione, persone interessate ad approfondire le tematiche relative ai contatti e agli scambi, nel corso dei secoli, tra i due estremi del continente eurasiatico. In particolare nell’ambito di Università, Centri Studi e Accademie, Associazioni culturali, Aziende che operano in e con la Cina, Giornalisti, studenti e ricercatori. I testi sono corredati con un ampio repertorio di immagini e ad ogni pagina di testo corrisponde una pagina di immagini, scelta in maniera tale da poter convenientemente illustrare i temi trattati nell’articolo. ON THE CATHAY's ROAD
Six-monthly scientific- informative review investigating the common roots of European and Chinese civilizations, the evidences of trades and exchanges, and the reciprocal influences and interactions between them. Edited by Martino Martini Centre in collaboration with Portolano Publishing & Communications. -o- Founded in 2007, the six-monthly magazine “Sulla via del Catai” is a scientific publication of the Martino Martini Study Center, focusing on historical, economic and cultural relations between Europe and China. The magazine hosts interventions by authoritative scholars and experts on several topics, mainly including economic relations, the trades on land routes and seas, the cultural exchanges between East and West, the Western presence in China, the Chinese presence in the West, the development of science and technology in the two areas; the comparison of arts, knowledges and traditions of the two civilizations. Each issue of the magazine is conceived as a monography. The choice of titles to be published and the identification of the editor of each number are jointly carried out by the director, the Scientific Committee and the editorial board. The journal takes up a system of evaluation of texts based on anonymous peer review (double-blind peer review) and comply with the publication's ethic code developed by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics): Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors (http://publicationethics.org/resources/guidelines) and adheres to the principles of transparency with the below Publication Ethics and Malpractice statement : CMM Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement 1. Editorial Board - On the Cathay’s Road /Sulla Via del Catai Editorial board and Scientific committee are composed by renown academics, scholars and sinologists, whose names and affiliations are provided on the journal’s Web site. - The same web page displays the editorial office contact information. 2. Authors and Authors responsibilities - No fees or charges are required by the CMM for manuscript processing and/or publishing materials - A publishing agreement regulating the relationship between author and publisher and stating the reciprocal obligations and rights is to be signed before the publication. - Authors are asked to participate in peer review process. - All authors declare to have significantly contributed to the research. - All authors undertake to make the requested retractions or corrections of mistakes by the deadline set by the editors; in case of not fulfillment the article will be rejected. 3. Peer-review process - the whole journal’s content is subject to peer-review by qualified expert in the related field. - The peer-review process is detailed on the box below. - Reviewers are committed to:
- Publishers and editors are committed to undertake all the reasonable steps to prevent the publication of papers in case research misconduct has been ascertained. - In no case the CMM or its editors shall encourage or consciously consent any misconduct to take place, and will deal with claims appropriately. - The journal rules the steps and deadlines for retracting or correcting articles when requested. - Publishers and editors agree to publish corrections, clarifications, retractions and apologies when needed. 5. Copyright and Access - Sulla Via del Catai is a copyright of the Martino Martini Center. - A publishing agreement rules author-publisher relations and rights. - The journal is partially available to readers on line, annual subscription is foreseen for paper copies, which may be also purchased on line or in bookshops, while single articles are freely available upon request to the publisher. 6. Archiving - The journal’s electronic backup is regularly updated and also available on a specific CMM cloud. The editor of each issue of the magazine is in charge to identify the collaborators among recognized experts in a specific field of study. Since its foundation the magazine "Sulla Via del Catai" has been conceived to address a wide audience, beyond professional sinologists, people interested in under-standing the development of these relations over the centuries: contacts and exchanges between the two extremes of the Eurasian continent. A special attention is devoted to the context of universities, study centers and academies, cultural associations, compa-nies operating in and with China, journalists, students and researchers. The texts are accompanied by a large collection of images and each page of text corresponds to a page of images, chosen as to properly expound the topics covered in the article. Iconographic research, graphic layout and printing are dealt by Il Portolano, publishing house in Genoa.
